Adelaide Festival: International VR Competition Unveiled

The competition comes as filmmakers like Alejandro G. Inarritu and Ridley Scott start to embrace the technology.

An International Virtual Reality competition has been established by the biennial Adelaide Film Festival (ADL Film Fest), with partner the Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS).

The competition is now open for submissions from filmmakers globally. Selected films will debut at the October festival in the South Australian capital and will feature as part of companion tech event Hybrid World. The festival is looking for “inventive, independently produced works of fiction, documentary and interactive virtual reality projects.”

Spider-Man: Homecoming Run time

Spider-Man: Homecoming has been listed as having a runtime of 130 minutes (2 hours and 10 minutes) on the website for Event Cinemas. This includes the end credits, and the inevitable post-credits scenes that Marvel movies are known for, but will not include the pre-show and trailers, which vary from theater to theater.

Pirates of the Caribbean 5 Guillotine Stunt Was Real!!

The directors of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales have revealed that one of the most outlandish stunts featured in the film was performed for real.

The directors of the latest installment, Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg, have confirmed that one of epic sequences in the movie was created and filmed practically, and a conscious decision to pull back from much of the CG trickery that has been used in the past. It occurs during one of several moments where Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) manages to evade certain death yet again, and is trapped inside a guillotine. But during a botched rescue, the contraption comes loose and ends up spinning about wildly, nearly decapitating Jack on numerous occasions.

BarDelhi -Restaurant Offering Adventures in Indian cuisine

A new restaurant near Novokuznetskaya offers adventures in Indian cuisine .

Mitya Borisov, the restaurateur famous for the wine bar chain Jean-Jacques and the pub chain John Donne, is diversifying. Just a couple of months ago, he opened Proliv, an arty cafe targeting Moscow’s intelligentsia. Now he has unveiled BarDelhi, which, judging by the crowd, aims for a different audience: young, hip and rather well-off Muscovites interested in good cocktails and exotic food.

BarDelhi is a collaboration between the team behind the cult Indian vegetarian restaurant Moscow-Delhi, Roman Milostivy, whose cocktail bar Chainaya is on the list of the world’s best bars, and Vladimir Basov, supplier of organic and biodynamic wines.

Online auditions for Asia’s Got Talent - Extended

The deadline for Asia’s Got Talent online auditions has been extended from Wednesday (May 31) to June 8.

“We’ve witnessed some incredible acts over the last few weeks that really show the cultural diversity and range of awe-inspiring talent on offer here in Asia. But we know there’s even more to be discovered so we’ve extended the deadline to June 8 to give performers some more time to get their acts together,” said Virginia Lim, Senior Vice President and Head of Content, Production and Marketing, Sony Pictures Television Networks, Asia.
